Right from the start, let me tell you that Gucci fragrances have never been up to my fragrance standards, except for now discontinued Gucci Pour Homme 1, Gucci Pour Homme 2, and Gucci Mémoire d’une Odeur which tried something new. For me, GGA is the outlaw among perfumes. Extreme Niche for small money (available for a small 40 Euro for 90ml). But, this kind of practice we see more and more just shows the state of perfumery in general, and how much the same formulas keep being released in different bottles under different names and prices.

Most of their releases for more than a full decade now, especially since creative director Tom Ford left the house, all boiled down to bland and fresh releases, pleasing to the masses, but uninteresting to perfume hobbyists.

I have another scent from the Gucci Guilty line, that I am going to post a review of in the very near future, but I wanted to get this one out first. I have been sampling, Guilty Absolute, and wanted to share my thoughts while they were still fresh in my mind. How does this flanker compare to the rest? What does it smell like? Does it perform well? Is it worth a try? Now I walk through the shelves because I don't want to go home without fragrance on my wrist. Then I saw Gucci Guilty Absolute and remembered the first time I tested him on a strip of paper: Bah, no, I can't. In the meantime I have also tested other leather scents and expanded my scent horizon, as well as my scent tolerance a little. So let's test 2 right on your wrist. This is the third time I've gotten around to writing a review. Actually, I have nothing to add to the previous speakers. Two times when I wanted to write something, wanted to share, I thought. Oh no, it was really all said. Fast and powerful, the poppy on the cornfield shoots towards the sun. You neither bought me, nor impressed me, yet you gave rich without demanding. All the money in this world cannot outweigh what you selflessly gave. You reached out your hand to me and left traces in me.

What’s even better, it is done by the same perfumer just one year apart from each other. After testing the sample of Kilian and Absolute at the same time, I couldn’t believe that Morillas sold the same formula to a niche house. To be fair, Dark Lord is a more intense and deeper edition of this release, but it doesn’t justify the niche price whatsoever. I searched, asked a lot of perfumas that have a lot of leather scents, tried a lot of scents that smell like Guilty. As it dries down, Absolute, becomes smoother and fresher. It’s less of a patchouli/leather scent and more of a leather/vetiver with dry woods. Not as in your face, but rich, warm, and dark. It’s a very masculine scent with an interesting depth to it. Just keep in mind that all of these heavy notes produce a sharp smell that trained and experienced noses won’t mind, but beginners unadjusted to dark and masculine fragrances should give proper time to adjust in cases like these. PerformanceWith my utmost joy, I have to report that this one is basically a one-to-one scent to By Kilian’s released at a more affordable price point. Gucci fragrances are not known for uniqueness, or for high-quality ingredients. Absolute is an exception and the one that takes a different road. I'm risking everything right now: live someone else's life. Without fear of loss, without thinking big. I feel with every fiber, the time is ripe for new ways, for courage, passion and risk. Camphoric, dark, medicinal, oily, band-aids, dentist office, barnyards, and more. Everything mentioned could be easily said as an accurate but vague description. By Kilian Dark Lord – a leather woody fragrance released in 2018. The main notes include leather, vetiver, and rum. The lasting power is 24+ hours with great projection. The fragrance comes in the same elongated and somewhat thin bottle shared by all Guilty fragrances from the line. Wrapped in your mighty apparition we stood there, lonely and ardent with expectation. It was liberating and engaging at the same time to feel your lips on mine, to finally touch you, to give in to what was going on in my mind for so long. Sometimes, risks like these pay off tremendously, and other times like with Absolute, end up in discontinuation. This perfume is a part of the Gucci Guilty line from the high-end luxury fashion house of Gucci. A brand that was founded in 1921, product lines also include handbags, footwear, home decorations, and ready-to-wear.

It goes through stages and has fantastic performance. It isn’t one that will be in everyone’s wheel house, though, can totally be a signature fragrance for the right guy. It does everything well, it just comes down to whether or not this sort of cologne smells nice in your opinion. The start is a bit harsh, not my favorite part, but I really enjoy the middle and latter stages. That initial leather, dirtiness of patchouli, and smoke just doesn’t much appeal to me. But, others might like it just fine. Who wants authentic leather, dir well served here, but should bring a portion of healthy self-confidence.

This brings me now to my last point and that is affordability. Since I've been with Parfumo for almost a year now, I can also appreciate fragrances that I personally don't like. I understand what can be clever about it and what others love about it. That's what I see here. It's just a very authentic leather scent. However, I personally could never imagine wearing it. Neither would it suit any of my acquaintances or relatives. Maybe you could wear it on Halloween if you wanted to dress up as Leatherface. Perhaps it would be an advantage for hide-and-seek, since you would be even less noticeable behind the leather couch of the neighboring family. Otherwise I'd probably never wear it. More casual or something you might want to wear more in the evenings. It could be used as a daily wear, provided you go light, and don’t expect something super formal. This image of a man, tall, masculine, elegantly dressed, who enters a room and there is a silence of titles, an admiration and awe in the air, that's what a fragrance is. One is provocatively different, but in a not banal white, but well thought-out and elegant This is probably also due to the fact that I live in Eastern Europe and the women here like a lot of masculinity, but the fragrance brought me, as well as TF TO, positive almost in love complements.
